Galvalume is carbon steel coated with a nominal coating composition of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc as well as a small addition of silicon.

Galvalume combines the excellent barrier corrosion protection of aluminum with the galvanic protection of zinc. The result is a coating that has excellent long-term durability. It even provides cut-edge protection along sheared edges, and therefore, offers excellent protection when long-term resistance to atmospheric corrosion is desired. These attributes make Galvalume, the preferred material for roofing and siding.
